Ok to whoever that was that made the last comment. In the state of GA 17 os not a child 15 is. I was not watching or performing in porn at 15 or 17 years old. You can't even legally buy porn at 17 so if he learned it from watching that again where did he view it where were his parents. And obviously he was the mastermind and manipulator since out of all parties involved he was the oldest and the one who should've known better. I am not sticking up for the girl her she is just as out there but I am sure it was not her who decided it would be fun and according to the case reports etc it was not her which is why he was originally charged with rape. In the end she ended up doing as asked but was coerced and manipulated into it. I am not saying she is no culpable but I am saying this dude should still be locked up. As for me and what I do or enjoy I am 30 years old almost 31 far from 17 and old enough to deal with the consequences and outcomes of my choices. I think whoever the adult was that got this band of misfits a hotel room and alcohol should've been prosecuted too. And yes the 15yr. old's mother is culpable as well but I dont see her on TV saying how her daughter was a role model and such a good girl. I am addressing who is claiming their 'baby-boy' is so innocent. I never said any of the acts were nasty etc I said to have that type of sexual appetite at the age of 17 is definitely deviant behavior. This was not a porn production for $$ this was a homegrown sexcapade not the same at all.
My support of Don Imus is not even about him its the fact that how can we be so quick to pull the trigger there but its ok for any black man/rapper/athlete/ etc to call and portray black women as bitches and hos all day long. This is a belief that starts so very very early in the black community (ie Mr. Wilson) its no wonder the terminology and mindset carries over to other races. I don't care what that girl allowed herself to talked into doing; if you are such a star athlete, student, and role model he should've his family should've instilled enough sense of self to know better than that shit at 17! I still say you have had to do so much sexually to get to that point I am willing to be we here of another sexually related charge on said gentleman in years to come. That is NOT normal highschool activity period.
As for me being a porn star, escort, stripper etc what's that got to do with Genarlow Wilson. I'll say it again when I was 17, I was a freshman in college because I had above a 4.0 and was ready to enter my freshman year. I might have had sex twice by that age and none of my friends etc were that much more advanced either.
As for Liquid City what do you want me to say. Mystikal is doing his time as well he should for raping the girl in the video. But that case has more angles as she was extorting $$ from him so no where near the same and no one was 17. So forgive me if don't see the correlation. I see tha ttorney general seems to agree with me:)

Sounds like you were raised in a convent. Please sexual activity amongst boys of that age is normal. Countless other 17 year old boys would haven taken the same approach to sexual encounters that are consentful if given the opportunity. I'm speaking as a man who was once a 17 years old boy, where as an athlete there was always little fast girls who were willing to be whores for the sake of being liked by the boys. Keep telling yourself that this girls was manipulated into doing what she did if so why didn't she say she was raped, it was more like these girls were embarrassed and their parents were angry to see what their daughters are capable of since it was all on video tape. Do you know they tried to convict this boy on rape charges which fell, so they use the 15 year old as a pawn to get him on charges of stautory rape. In no way do I condon rape of anyone under any circumstances. As far as porn goes that's where all young boys get their introduction to sex. It starts by sneaking a peak of Dad's playboy, and transforms to the watching of porn videos. As much as you may try to convince us porn has nothing to do with it, porn plays a large part in sexual deviant youths. Where do you think they learn all that freaky stuff. For evey grown man that has a freaky nature to him 8 out of 10 probably learned that from pornography. You know as well as I that porn is not made available only to adults and that porn is very accessible to minors and that has nothing to do with lack of parenting, the porn industry makes it that way. So, don't think because you were an adult when you choose to do porn that eliminates you from blame. As for the Don Imus issue you keep saying that black men, rappers, etc... makes it possible for Don Imus to say what he says, but, you fell to mention the black women out there who are portraying themselves as whores, bitches, videovixens, pornstars, etc ... what role do they play in their own negative portrayal. If I were to say Ayana Angel is a black whore, does that make me have a negative outlook or does it reflects my opinion on the action Ayana have choosen to take part in. Don Imus was wrong, by saying we shouldn't be upset by him saying that because others do, is a bunch of BS.
I gotta agree from what little I've read there's no way this kid deserved jail time for this. There isn't a 17 year boy who wouldn't do this, perhaps they wouldn't have taped it but that's the only difference.
Anyway they've changed the laws in GA because of this case unfortunately they don't apply retroactively so the kid is screwed. This is incredibly wrong. 10 year sentence for receiving oral sex from a 15 year old when you're only 17, it's nuts.
Lastly girls really don't seem to need too much coercion serisouly look at the sheer amount of girls, many of whom are probably underaged, freely chose to be on webcam.
The most ridiculous part of this is that he'd have got less time had he engaged in intercourse rather than receiving a BJ, utter madness.
Sorry Ayana you are wrong on this one, 10 years for statutory rape is severe. I think you may be taking this situation a little to personal. No woman deserves to be rape but if this boy was given the proper sentencing for his crime why are the law makers pushing forth to change the laws that sentence this child to 10 years in prison? No one knows what may happen with this kid who is now a man once he is released from prison. You're coming down hard on this boys mother, really, what do you expect for her to get on television and say, I'm sure you would probably be reacting in the same manner if you were the mother. I'm tired of people always putting all the blame on men, in this case as much as you don't want to admit it, the 15 year old was a willing participant, that's why I feel the punishment was too harsh. Do we really know the history of this 17 year old, if you do, make us aware of all his deviant behavior and maybe we may have a more accurate view of what type of person this boy is. I myself as a 17 year old boy in high school engaged in consentual sex with my 16 year old girl should I be arrested and sentenced to 10 years of prison also. And if you participated sexually with any guy while you where under the legal age limit should that guy be arrested and imprisioned also. Question, at what age exactly did you beome sexually active?
No disrespect is meant, but everyone in the world has realizd that youngsters are far more advanced than those of us that were kids 12 to 15 years ago. There are all types of young ladies and men that are actively sexual from the ages of 13 and up. I have been involved with education for 5years and kids just know more. Most of us would hope that their parents would assist in tempering what their children see, but they don't. It is nearly impossible for teachers to do anything, because we lack the authority, which has been stripped from us by parents and the legal system, so it is harder and harder to monitor kids every moment.
I know some of the details of the case. But the funny thing is that the state of Georgia changed the law which Mr. Wilson was imprisoned for a year after it locked him up. So, his age at the time became a factor at the time of the incident. This is probably why his case was appealed at this stage.
As far as the Imus thing, if you are willing to give Imus a pass because "Black Men" disrespect sisters all the time, so you can comprehend why he might disrespect black women then give a young man who despite his standing in his community before his arrest and conviction was still influenced by the same parties that drown our airwaves and music video stations with that crap, and allow him to begin his life all over again.
I dont claim that the young man is completely innocent, but since he has been set free, he will need a community to help get back on his feet, and start his life over again.
One other thing, I want black women to have this much venom for R. Kelly, who was a grown man taking advantage of young women. His trial has been delayed for 5 years, and nobody says a damn thing about that fool and he keeps making records. Ridiculous!!!
Thank you for allowing me to express myself you can always reach me if you want to continue this discussion at johnkeys_2000@yahoo.com.
Ayana I like your blog and you make some good points at times but this one you are way off base on. That is the problem with society. No on wants to take the blame. Hey I started having sex at 15. I am 38 now. Dude is right, teenage sex has gone on for along time. I had someone give me head at a young age as well. Even though I like porn it is not a good thing for society. That is just the bottom line. I have learned in my life just because you like something it does not always mean it's good. There is no way you can stop a young person from seeing anything they want to see bad enough. Somethings are what they are. Too many people want to straddle the fence but it all comes down to what is right and what is wrong. As far as Imus is concerned, I don't care how many black men or women put each other down it does not give anyone the right to say something that is not proper. He is a man and a individual. He knows right from wrong. I don't think he should have been fired but he deserved some punishment. Back to the rape issue. It was wrong for them to do what they did to the boy. 17 is not grown. HOw many boys you know at 17 can make good decisions? I am 38 and I still make wrong decisions sometimes so I know at 17 a boy will messs up a lot. I was wild myself at that age. It does sound as if you have a lot of anger to me as well Ayana. How can you condem a child? Just because society says 17 makes you an adult does not mean you automatically know right from wrong and every aspect.
All this coming from a Porn Star, Escort, Stripper, who starred in a video with a rapper convicted of rape. Wow! Express your opinion about that.
Nothing worse than stupid people. If you had traveled, which I doubt, you'd know that in Europe the rate of sexual assaults, rapes, molestation, etc. is far lower. Why is that? Well interestingly enough in those countries sex and sexuality are not under attack by a self righteous and morally repugnant false judeo christian culture of religiosity. Nothing is more pathetic then the scapegoating of Pornography. I'm from Europe, and I grew up knowing about pornography at a very young age. Yet not once have I assaulted a woman, or even had the inclination to do so. In all actuality I was repulsed by the repressive nature of sexuality in the US when I emigrated here. Let me throw a statistic out for you, according to campus surveys 1 out of 3 women in College will be sexually assaulted by a person they know. Now Genius, are all those men under the influence of pornography? Don't be a moron, and stop blaming pornography. Perhaps your own repressed and deviant attitude is being projected unto others.
I have your connection for you. Mystikal taped his rape and this 17 year old also tape the rape in question. Now you have it ... Let's move on to the next topic.
Do you actually know the details of the case? Everybody including the prosecuter and the 15 year old girl agreed that she initiated the sexual act, the video showed this 15 year old girl performing the same sexual act on another party goer then turned and performed the act on Wilson, there goes your theory that the girl was manipulated (you should know your facts). Under Georgia law at the time, that was considered aggravated child molestation, a felony for teens less than three years apart to have oral sex. It carried with it a 10-year sentence, even though it was only a misdemeanor for those same teen to have sexual intercourse. The D.A. offered all the boys involved a plea deal of 5 years in prison and register as a sex offender, Wilson turned it down because he had beat the rape charge that was placed against, which is why all of this came to be prosecuted. At this same party a 17 year old female was video having group sex with several of the party goers then later claimed rape( may I add no one was ever convicted on charges of raping the 17 year old girl). All of the other boys captured in the video took the plea the D.A. offered accept for Wilson, he choosed to go to trial. The Prosecuters blamed Wilson for his own sentence because none of the other defendants insisted on a trial; all of the others took their medicine is what the prosecutor was quoted as saying. After Wilson conviction legislature change the statute realizing it was unfair. It now makes consensual oral sex between teens a misdemeanor. The only hope for Wilson is that the Prosecutors set aside the sentence and give him a new sentence to a lesser charge. Under the law at the time of the incident the punishment was within the limits of the law, but that doesn't make it right. It is obvious that the Prosecutor is punishing Wilson for exercising his right to a trial(a constitutional right), instead of accepting the plea like the other kids did. You have made this kid out to be a deviant sexual predator, a manipulator, a future if released sexually offender, and I don't think you even know the history of this kid or the case. It seems like you and the prosecutor are the only people interested in seeing this kid serve out the 10 year sentence. The Prosecutor is letting his pride cloud his judgement, what is your excuse? As for Don Imus he had a responsibility as a person with a nationally syndicated talk show to use better judgement in saying such crap. His firing was all about losing advertisement money, if the advertisers wouldn't have started to bail he would still have his talk show, so don't be fooled into thinking the firing was about the people who were offended by his comment.
My two cents. It is interesting to hear all the men's opinions here compared to Ayana's. Both sides of this case can certainly be argued. Genarlow and his four male friends had a NY's eve party and had girls over with alcohol in the mix. He had sex with a 17 yr old who had been drinking. The 15 yr old had not. They video taped it. Jocks think they can get away with anything. He was wrong and deserves some punishment, but I also think 10 yrs in prison is excessive. Who knows the background of the girls and how long they may have been having sex. Still, doesn't make what went down right. I hope he does not turn out to be a rapist, and this was just a very bad choice he and his boys made. He no doubt has learned a lot from this.
He was being raised by a single mom, was a star athlete, was on honor roll, and was elected senior class president. He was a kid who appeared to be on the right track to make something of himself.
One thing surprisingly not being mentioned in the media is that the girls were White. Hey, and this is still Georgia and the South. This is an added reason the system would go after him so hard. Had he been White and affluent and not Black and poor, you can bet the outcome would have been different.
It is true kids are very advanced these days and can take pics in a hot minute with cell phones and have themselves starring on MySpace in no time at all. We've got 11 - 13 yr olds on up with chlamydia and gonorrhea - some with HIV as well as I know from my public health STD work.
It is sad, but families, esp those of poor people and Black folk in particular have been systematically broken apart through urban renewal, outsourcing of jobs, locking up Black men for walking down the street, etc. I could go on, but the playing field is not level and all of this is contributing to problems we have today. I know there are opportunities, but it is difficult to break cycles in communities without many positive male role models. I lived in an orphanage for a time as a young child, and it made it very hard for me in my teens and early 20s.
Porn is not the cause of this. We need to teach young males and females to respect each other. And to encourage everyone to stop using deragatory language toward one another, to include the use of the n word, to stop calling women b's and ho's, etc.
I had sex at age 17 with my 16 yr old girl friend as well. I became a dad and hung in there until my kids were grown. I'm now 57. I respect women and have learned to listen to their perspective.
I do see some aspects of this case differently than Ayana does, but I did some things from her comments.
I met a young women in Atlanta a week ago via a phone chat line. She's 24 and has a three yr old son. She is a very attractive young sister and was about to be put on the street. She was willing to have sex with me for a small amount of money to be able to get a room for the night. I paid for her room and she was amazed I didn't want any physical favors in return. We're trying to get her into a shelter and rehab to get her on her feet. Her Mom threw her out and moved to Florida. The baby daddy took off to Cali when she deliverd. There are tons of kids out there being exploited. We can do better in this wealthy country and respect and try to listen to and understand each other a lot better than we do. I want to know not only what people do, but also try to understand why. We can rebuild communities and get out of Iraq and stop killing innocent peeps over there. Put the billions of $ into inner city communities and we could do wonders.
Genarlow was wrong. Yes, he's human and was 17. He is a smart guy and he was wrong. With more parental involvement and counsel, this party might not have gone down. The girls are wrong as well.
Okay, let me chill now. Ayana, you got it going on this hot topic sweetie. Keep on being you and stay true to yourself. You already know there will be haters, and there will be fans. We have not heard the last of this case, and I would just like to hear his supporters acknowledge he made a mistake, but not one that should put him behind bars for longer than some killers get.
LOL all - Stewart
I am going to say this and leave it alnoe. I read my post and I did not make myself clear. I made it seem as if I thought it was porn and only porn. I think it is a lot of things. The old saying it takes a village to raise a child is a true statement in my opinion. A lot of things you see on TV and movies effect children. How can you expect parents who have to work 10 to 12 hours a day to have a roof over their head and food on the table monitor every thing their child watches or does. It is impossible. We all as people need to find a way to edducate chlidren better then we are doing now. I am just as guilty as anyone so I am not here to judge anyone.
Black men do get a raw deal. I believe in my heart if the girl was black this would not be an issue. I really feel sorry for the boy.
To be honest these days kids, teenagers are doing whatever they want to because the parents are kids too, Don Imus said what he said and it was not cool, but people we have seen and hear worse and and there will be someone else to do some thing else stupid.
People dont compare yourself to Ayana, I like her realism about stuff. Nobody can just what a person does with her body after 18, because in my opionin the porn stars are the smart girls because they are getting paid where the regular girls are getting paid with babies and no child support. Regardless if you have sex with one person or 100 people, PEOPLE YOU ARE NOT and I do REPEAT not a VIRGIN.
Ayana keep doing your thing but I did hear you retired a few months ago,, we need you back, I am def a fan since I seen you in Freaks in the Indrusty 6(LOL) But u are def one in a million espically with that six pack.
Now that one of the postings mention that the girls were white and the boys accused were black, it makes sense know why the boys were prosecuted. Face it AA teens are having sex and not in just the good old-fashioned way. I hate to play the race card but can you honestly say race didn't play a part in this prosecution and conviction. It's true the laws that sentence this boy was on the books and set the punishment for the crime, but can we say that if these boys were captured on video doing these sexual acts with black girl would we be having this discussion?
Genaro is a good kid I used to work in his school as a Marine Corps Recruiter and had actually talked to him several times. The bad thing about his situation and why it's showing up on Sports Center is because he actually had athletic scholarships to college, so you can imagine the outrage and disappointment in the community. Although I feel bad for the young man I will say this. Young teens behavior today is far out of control!!!!! No way as a parent can anyone make me feel at the participants ages, that what they were doing is par for the course. People need to know what the teens are doing to avoid this for their child and not be willing to accept what is perceived as normal adult behavior as fine for teenagers. As for where to draw the line between grown and almost grown, thats on you as a parent. I hope that this young man is released and is allowed to attend school seeing that a good part of his future he managed to mess it up himself. No one forced him to stick, poke, or touch anything. As a matter of fact this case would have went away if the boys would not have taped it ( Now don't that suck). If they had been doing something normal like hanging out with a girlfriend or having a normal party and not acting like they were at Trapeze or 2Risque (not old enough to play yet these clubs) they would have been perfectly fine. The State of Georgia and every other state has to keep tough laws on the books for Pedophiles or those bitches will run wild. These young men just got to close and got caught up in those laws. Also the DA could have opted out, but being black in that county I would not count on it. If you need some food for thought look at this case and the Barbie Bandit case (Ain't that a B####). These parent and kids still already know the deal. Ayana can you give your boys in the Military, Especially the Marine Corps A shot out, trust me you keeping a lot of brothers sane.
We all know prosecutors are fair and only want criminals to be convicted and sent to prison, yeah right just like Nifong the prosecutor in the Duke rape case. Because of his deceiving behavior those boys in the Duke rape case could have been sent to prison for a long time based on a lie and deception by the prosecutor in that case. It is so relieving to see Nifong was disbarred for his deceptive action of hiding DNA evidence which would exonerate those accused of this rape. I agreed with a previous poster that the prosecutor in the Wilson case made this a personal attack when Wilson refused to accept a plea and chose to go to trial. I hope Wilson is freed, besides he has served two years already and his life will never be the same, enough is enough let's make things right.
I hate to quote Homer Simpson, as he would say to Marge " Don't you ever get tired of being wrong " (LoL) You are wrong about this, you are wrong about Imus and you are wrong about Culpepper. 3 strikes and you're out Ayana. When will we hear more about your contest, I'm ready to win and wine and dine you. Question if you enjoy the wining and dining does the date end with a happy ending?
